In a massive outage, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook have all gone down.

The three applications, which are all owned by Facebook and run on the same infrastructure, all went down just before 5 p.m. Facebook Workplace and other products from the same family of applications have also ceased operating.

Visitors to the Facebook website were greeted with an error page or a notice stating that their browser was unable to connect. The WhatsApp and Instagram applications were still functional, but no new information was shown, including any messages sent or received during the outage. WhatsApp is showing something went wrong or connecting as many users reported.

However, in India On October 4, DownDetector reported a rapid increase in the number of incidents of WhatsApp not working for individuals across geographies. New messages cannot be sent or received by users. On Instagram, users are unable to log in, refresh their feed, or send direct messages, which is a similar occurrence (DMs). The problem appears to have affected customers late in the evening, with the outage beginning about 9:15 p.m. IST.
